Full Day Dhow Cruise

Full Day Dhow Cruise to Khor Sham with our traditionally Omani wooden dhow in azure water through a majestic fjord (Khor), surrounded by spectacular mountains and serene remote white sand beaches. At the entrance of the fjord our guests can enjoy dolphin watching , playing and following the dhows . Then we can see the villages like : Nadifi,Qanah,Maqlab and Sham village these are fisherman villages in these villages there is no road connections,school,shops,hospitals,etc.. they are acessable only by boats.The Dhow will anchor at Telegraph Island and Seebi Island, during the cruise the guests can enjoy swimming and snorkeling in crystal clear water is memorable treat here and we can watch out fish groupers,barnacles,urchins and the coral growths by using goggles and masks. Refreshments include like: mineral water, soft drinks, fresh fruits, coffee / tea and lunch onboard.

  • 09.30 AM : Arrival in Khasab and report to our office (self-drive)
  • 10.00 AM : Departure for full day Dhow Cruise on sharing basis to Khor Sham. We offer lunch, soft Drinks, mineral water, tea & coffee, 2 stops for swimming & snorkeling.
  • 4.00 PM : End of the trip and trnsfer to harbor.

    Half Day Dhow Cruise

    Telegraph Island

    Telegraph Island (Jazirat al Maqlab) is a tiny, rocky island in the Musandam Peninsula region of Oman, which with its spectacular fjords is often called the Norway of the Middle East. Its is the most famous landmark of this area. In the 19th century, it was the location of a British repeater station used to boost telegraphic messages from Bombay(India) to Basra(Iraq) and to London. Today, Telegraph Island is an reminder of the British Empire. Here we do Swimming & Snorkeling in the crystal clear calm waters is a memorable treat here. Watching out for Butterfy Fish Groupers, Barnacles, Urchins and the Coral Growths by using googles and masks are among the in this Fjords.

     

    Seebi Island

    This villages is located at the end of the Fjord and has around 100 inhabitants, very scheduled. This area has many species of sea birds nestling in the cliffs. On the Island take plunge in to the crystal clear water.

     

    Nadifi Village

    The first village we will pass by, with around 100 inhabitants, manily fisherman. there is no land access, so most of the villages own small speed boats.  

    Qanaha Village

    A small fishing village where the stone houses blend into the cliffs, made from the local stone. In the old days, this was the first line of defence,not to be seen.

     

    Maqlab Village

    A mountain village where the people are earning their living by goat herding and fishing. This small village is made up of only around 10 houses. This area is the shortset distance to the east and can be reached by climbing over the Jabal Maqalab.

     

    Sham Village

    Its is the cosatal Fishing Village, around 100 inhabitants.To all the above islands and villages, have no road connections,shops, schools, hospitals, and they are accessable only by boat. The children travel by boat to school, stay over in Khasab from Saturday to Wednesday morning. In the villages you can see water tanks, the Oman Government provides fresh water free of charege on a regular basis.

    What is a Dhow ?

     

    A “Dhow” is a traditional wooden vessel that is common in the Middle East and has been used historically for a variety of purposes, primarily for trading.

    Dhows are made in a variety of sizes and in the Khasab have been most used for many other purpose also.

    Over the last decade the demand for dhows has gone down and has been replaced by more modern vessels.

    Dhows have played a cruicial role in the history and evolution of the gulf and are iconic as a mode of sea transportation.

    Full dhow cruise start at Morning 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM it take around 6 hours to complete.

    Half Dhow Cruise start from morning 9:00 AM to 1:30 pm and Half Noon 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM it take around 4 hours to complete hald day dhow cruise.
